How to use this calculator
Enter the current value of everything you own (assets) and everything you owe (liabilities). For assets, use today's market value — not what you paid for something. For liabilities, use the current outstanding balance on each debt. Your net worth is simply assets minus liabilities. Don't be discouraged if the number is negative — that's normal, especially early in adulthood with student loans or a recent mortgage. The number that matters most is whether it's trending in the right direction.
