Cookie Policy
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device when you visit them. They help sites remember information about your visit — like your preferences — so the site works better next time.
Cookies can't run programs, carry viruses, or access your personal files. They're simply a way for websites and services to store a small piece of information in your browser.
Most websites use cookies of some kind. Fiscal Word uses a minimal set — only what we need to provide a good experience and keep the site financially sustainable.
Cookies We Use
Here's a complete breakdown of every cookie category used on Fiscal Word:
Essential cookies
Essential cookies are necessary for the site to function. Without them, basic features like remembering your cookie preference wouldn't work. These cannot be disabled.
Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) help us understand how visitors interact with Fiscal Word. We see aggregated, anonymized data — things like which articles are most popular and where visitors come from. We cannot identify you personally from this data.
Advertising cookies
When display ads are active, ad network cookies (Google AdSense) may be used to show advertisements that are relevant to your interests. These cookies track browsing activity across sites to build an interest profile.
Functional cookies
Functional cookies from Beehiiv are only set when you interact with our newsletter signup forms. They help manage the subscription process.
How to Control Cookies
You have several options for controlling cookies on Fiscal Word.
Option 1: Our cookie consent banner
When you first visit Fiscal Word, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen. Clicking "Decline" opts you out of all non-essential cookies (analytics and advertising). Clicking "Accept" allows all cookies. Your choice is remembered permanently.
To change your preference after the banner has been dismissed, you can clear your browser's local storage for fiscalword.com (see browser instructions below) and the banner will reappear on your next visit.
Option 2: Browser settings
All major browsers let you control, block, or delete cookies. Here's how:
- Google Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data. You can block third-party cookies or clear all cookies.
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Enhanced Tracking Protection. Choose Standard, Strict, or Custom protection levels.
- Apple Safari — Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data. You can block all cookies or remove cookies from specific sites.
- Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Cookies and site data. You can block third-party cookies or clear all cookies.
Note: blocking essential cookies may affect how parts of the site function.
Option 3: Google Analytics opt-out
You can specifically opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites using Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on .
Option 4: Ad personalization opt-out
You can manage Google's ad personalization settings at adssettings.google.com or opt out of interest-based advertising through the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page .
Our Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit Fiscal Word, a small banner appears at the bottom of the screen. It explains that we use cookies and gives you two choices:
- Accept Cookies — All cookie categories are enabled (essential, analytics, and advertising).
- Decline — Only essential cookies are used. Analytics and advertising cookies are not set.
Your preference is stored in your browser's localStorage under the key
fiscalword_cookie_consent with a value of accepted or
declined. The banner will not appear again after you've made a choice.
